Ship Mooring Bollards

Double Bitt Bollards also named Type-A Ordinary Bollard, Double Bittss with base often referred to as twin horn bollards, are capable of accepting multiple mooring lines due to their twin horn profile and have been designed with a narrow base footprint to fit into spaces on wharves that have limited work area. ISO13795 Marine Mooring Bollard Type A is made from durable ductile cast iron or cast steel, horn bollards / Type A Mooring Bitts can withstand use in harsh environments. 

Installation and Use

Mooring bitts are installed in the deck of bow/stern and the mid-deck of the ship for fastening the cable during berthing and towing operations. There are many types such as curved bollard, J type dock bollard, T-head bollard, single bitts, double bitts, cross bitts, etc.. Large and medium-size ships usually use double bollards.

Cast iron mooring bollard is usually used in oil tankers to avoid the spark when mooring. Bollards on yachts are usually made of bronze, stainless steel or other alloy materials. The specifications of the cable piles are selected according to the diameter of the cable. The quantity of the pile is decided according to the type and tonnage of the ship.

The Mooring Bitts is widely used for all kinds of boats and different vessels, such as container vessels, tankers, bulk carriers,  tug, dry cargo vessels, etc.
