Product Description

Permanent and Durable Yokohama Fender

Permanent and Durable Yokohama Fender
Pneumatic Rubber Fender

Marine berthing ball is one of the world's leading marine anti-collision devices. It is made of synthetic cord reinforced rubber plate, with compressed air floating on the water surface as a protective medium. Therefore, the rubber fender is used as an important protective medium to prevent collision during the operation of lightering and berthing.

A large amount of energy can be absorbed by the marine berthing ball, which reduces the unit pressure acting on the surface of the ship. This kind of advantage makes the marine berthing ball has become an ideal ship protection device and is widely used in large oil tankers, liquefied petroleum gas carriers, offshore platforms, bulk carriers, floating structures, large terminals, ports and wharves.

Sometimes called "Yokohama Fender" or "Yokohama type Fender".

Type of Yokohama Fender

According to ISO 17357:2002 < ships and marine technology, high pressure floating inflatable rubber berthing ball > > has the following classification

1. The leaning ball can be divided into:

a) Sheath type
b) Hanging type

2. According to the initial internal pressure, the leaning ball can be divided into:

a) Type 50 (initial internal pressure is 50kPa)
b) Type 80 (initial internal pressure is 80kPa)

Structural Features of Marine Fenders

The basic structure of marine berthing ball is composed of outer rubber layer, synthetic wire rope reinforced rubber layer and inner rubber layer. It is a cylindrical leaning ball with hemispherical indenter at both ends.

Outer Rubber

The outer rubber layer covers the outside of the fender to protect the synthetic rope and the inner rubber layer from abrasion and the impact of other external forces. This compound has strong tensile strength and tear strength, and can be used in any weather conditions and harsh conditions. The standard colour is black, but other colours such as grey and cream white are also available on request.

Internal Rubber

The rubber film gasket seals the compressed air in the fender.

Safety Valve

A safety valve is provided on the large-sized leaning ball to release excessive internal pressure when the leaning ball is accidentally over compressed.

Metal Fittings

All the related metal accessories of marine berthing ball, including shackle, traction ring, swivel ring and chain mesh, are made of stainless steel and hot dip galvanized (HDG) (hot dip galvanizing can resist seawater corrosion).

Marine Mooring Chain and Tire Net

Almost all are protected by the tire chain and the ball. Chains and tire nets are designed to prevent damage to the sphere by sharp objects or protrusions, such as a rough shore wall that distributes absolute force along the chain mesh.

Testing of Rubber Fenders

According to ISO 17357:2002, the ship's berthing ball should be tested when it leaves the factory

1. Rubber material test, including outer rubber and inner rubber.

2. Dimension Inspection

The dimension inspection of marine berthing ball should be completed under the initial air pressure, and the dimension deviation is as follows:

a) Length: + 10%, - 5%;

b) The diameter was + 10%, - 5%;

The diameter should be measured at least at two or more locations near the middle of the ball and averaged.

3. Air tightness Test

When the air is inflated by the ball to reach the initial internal pressure, there should be no leakage within 30 minutes.

4. Hydrostatic Test

When the inner pressure reaches 10KPA, the longitudinal length and circumferential length are recorded. Continue to fill with water, when the internal pressure reaches the 0% deformation test pressure listed in Table 4 or table 5, keep it for 10min, there is no water leakage, and there is no damage to the ball.
