A ship is continuously in contact with water and moisture laden winds which makes it highly susceptible to corrosion.Anode is the main component of galvanic protection system used to protect buried or submerged metal structures from corrosion.Three most active materials used in sacrificial anodes are zinc, aluminum and magnesium.Zinc and aluminium are generally used in salt water,widely used for hulls of ships and boats,offshore pipelines and production platforms,on small boat propellers and rudders and for the internal surface of storage tanks.
